Easy Household Solutions On How To Make A Burn Heal Faster

By Eric Morris

Nobody enjoys getting burnt, whether it is from getting cookies out of the oven without wearing gloves or from a spilt hot beverage. Sadly, burns account for most household injuries. If you want to learn how to make a burn heal faster, the following home remedies should do just fine.

But first, it would be prudent to understand the different types of burns and the ones that do not require advanced medical attention. Third and fourth degree burns basically penetrate the three layers of the skin and are considered medical emergencies. First and second degree burns require no advanced attention as they only scald outer skin layers.

When you get burned at home, the first thing that any doctor would advise you to do is to pour cool water over the affected area. For the best effect, do it over running water from a faucet for at least twenty minutes. Thereafter, lubricate the area using soap.

A wet cloth can help your skin grow again besides easing the pain caused by the injury. If there is any swelling, the cloth should be able to prevent it from going any further. Apply the cloth intermittently in timed intervals, preferably between 5 and 15 minutes. You should also avoid placing ice blocks in the cloth as the extra cold temperature may cause a skin irritation.

Its cosmetic benefits aside, Aloe Vera is also renowned for other advantages. For one, it is a natural scald healer. Its primary compounds assist in circulating air within the skin and prevent inflammation. The plant also fights bacteria thanks to its antibiotic properties. Its leaves contain the gel that you need for this purpose, so all you should do is extract it.

You may also use an alcohol based antibiotic to kill any germs that may have infected your scald. This may hurt a lot, but it is worth knowing that an infection will not develop in the area. Kitchen products such as vinegar have mild antibiotic compounds that can be useful to this effect.

Honey is an alternative healing product too. Many folks use it to alleviate their stomach and throat problems. It is also used as a medicine for mild burns. It has anti inflammatory and anti fungal properties. Its effects are known to manifest soon after application.

Many scald victims tend to burst their blisters on impulse. This is a discouraged habit as doing so may expose the underlying tissue to infections. In case you have an impulsive urge to burst them, it would be wise to book an appointment with your doctor so he can look at it professionally.

The pain relief for some of the aforementioned remedies may not come instantly. Luckily, everyday painkillers should suffice. Painkillers you are free to use in this case include naproxen and ibuprofen.

If your symptoms do not improve, things may be worse than you had earlier thought. Third degree injuries usually have symptoms such as whitened skin and leathery texture. You should know how to read your symptoms before resorting to a home remedy.
