How To Make Simple Gourmet Fudge

By Lisa Clark

When it comes to various desserts, the one called fudge is just perfect for any day, but during Christmas holidays, you simply have to have some on your table. It is so easy to prepare, and brings out so much pleasure. There are probably hundreds of tasty combinations, but gourmet fudge with chocolate is something you just cannot make a mistake with.

So, you could start with this one. Take one cup sugar and melt it with a few spoons of water over low heat. It should become syrupy. Now it is the time to add three cups of your selected choco chips, dark, milk or white. When everything is melted and smooth, add some butter in, approximately half of a cup. Pour into previously lined pan and leave it to cool.

Another simple recipe requires one cup sweetened condensed milk, three cups choco chips and one cup peanut butter. That's all that you need. Simply melt your chocolate, combine with condensed milk, add peanut butter and pour this mixture into the pan. It's advisable to put a sheet of baking paper or foil into the pan first. Leave it all in the fridge for several hours and cut.

You simply cannot go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter, because they really love each other. Crushed or chopped peanuts will be a nice addition, and another thing you can do is to sprinkle peanuts, or even different choco chips on, once you pour this mixture into the pan. It will make it all even tastier, and it will look nice as well.

Caramel fudge can be easily prepared as well. Pour two cups sugar into the pan and caramelize it over low heat. Pour one cup condensed milk in and stir. Combine this mixture with three cups dark chocolate, melted. You can use this mixture as it is, or add some butter, peanut butter, nuts, vanilla syrup or anything else you can think of.

One can condensed milk should be enough for three cups of chocolate chips. Although, there is a slight difference between dark, milk and white choco chips, and your fudge might be slightly harder when using for example darker chips. In any case, you can simply melt milk and chips in your microwave to make perfectly tasty fudge, and then add other ingredients of your choice.

If you use white chocolate instead, you can also play with different colors, for some special occasions. For example, for Saint Patrick's Day, you could make a basic recipe using white chocolate, and add some mint extract. Another idea for making it all green is to use pistachios instead, both in preparing the mixture, and sprinkling them over.

Spice up your dessert with chili, this ingredient simply adores dark chocolate. If you use unsweetened milk and bitter dark choco chips, you should add more salt to make your mixture tastier. In any case, adding some salt is always a good idea, this will make all the flavors more intense.
