Black Bean Beef Chili Recipe

By Amanda Sanders

There are so many great recipes you can enjoy in, but sometimes you simply have not enough time to prepare some of them. So, here you will find one black bean beef chili recipe you can prepare in one hour or so, and another one, that takes more time to prepare, but it's worth it. You won't be disappointed with either.

So, for preparing this lovely dish you will need two onions, finely chopped, approximately four garlic cloves, depending on your taste, chopped or minced, four nice slices of smoked bacon, one pound of ground beef, one can of black beans and twice as much of peeled, crushed plum tomatoes, one teaspoon of chili powder, cumin, unsweetened cocoa and dry oregano, salt and pepper, olive oil, one tablespoon of sweet paprika powder and a cup of good beef broth.

In a large pan, on medium heat, brown slices of smoked bacon on a little bit of olive oil, together with garlic. Remove bacon and garlic from the pan, add more olive oil and chopped onions. After a while, add chopped sweet paprika and a little bit of salt. Cook for a few minutes, and add ground beef. Cook for another five to ten minutes, and add rinsed and drained black beans and previously removed bacon and garlic.

After a few minutes, add other ingredients and spices and leave everything cooking on low heat for twenty minutes or so. Add more salt or more other ingredients if you, for example, like your chili to be really hot. Serve with fresh sliced vegetables and green salad, tortilla or toasted bread. Some people prefer serving this specialty with grated hard cheese and sour cream instead.

If you have more time for preparing this great dish, you can prepare it in your slow cooker, and freeze the leftovers for a fast and nutritious snack when you feel the urge for something delicious and hot. The following recipe takes more time to prepare, but is equally delicious and just perfect for larger family gatherings and similar occasions.

So, for this slow cooker chili you need to chop four medium sized onions, two larger carrots, one red and one green sweet pepper and at least six cloves of garlic. You can use two pounds of diced or ground meat. You also need six slices of good smoked bacon, three cans crushed plum tomatoes, beef broth, cumin, oregano and cocoa, one teaspoon each and two teaspoons of hot chili powder, as well as one tablespoon, or two, of nice smoked paprika powder, salt, pepper, olive oil and, at the end, a spoon of red wine.

In a large pan, cook olive oil and salted chopped onions until soft and yellow, add garlic, carrots and sweet peppers and cook for another five minutes. Add diced meat and smoked bacon and cook until browned. Add smoked red paprika, spices and all other ingredients. Transfer everything into your slow cooker and cook for at least two hours on low heat.

Here is a little additional dish you can make using the leftovers. Put some olive oil in a pan, add chili, cover with canned crushed tomatoes, sour cream and grated hard cheese. Bake in preheated oven for up to forty minutes, and it is done. Serve with mash potato, salad or various vegetables and enjoy.
