Armenian National Flag History And Flag Company Inc

By Adam Smith

One of the world's oldest civilizations, Armenia once included Mount Ararat, which biblical tradition identifies as the mountain that Noah's ark rested on after the flood. It was the first country in the world to officially embrace Christianity as its religion (c. A.D. 300).

Armenia proclaimed its independence on May 28, 1918, after the Russian Revolution. On August 1 of that year, the new constitution gave a red-blue-orange striped banner official sanction, and it kept on flying until 1921 April 2 when Russia's Red Army vanquished Armenia.

One interpretation of its symbolism is that red stands for the blood shed by Armenians in the past, blue is for the unchanging Armenian land, and orange is for courage and work. Historical interpretations have also been given to the colours.

The meanings of the colors have been interpreted in many different ways and one of them is: the red colour symbolizes the blood shed by Armenians in the defence of their country, the blue colour is a symbol of the country's nature, and orange one signifies national courage and industriousness.

When the Rubenian Dynasty fell and the Armenian lost their independence there was no national flag. It wasn’t until 1855 that the quest for a national flag began again. A group of Armenian students in Paris wanted to attend Victor Hugo’s funeral under an Armenian flag. They asked Father Alishan for the true colors of the Armenian flag.

The regular significance of Armenian flag communicated in the constitution is deciphered in the following manner: red symbolizes the Armenian great nation, the Armenian people's continued with a fight for survival, backing of the Christian certainty, Armenia's self-sufficiency and adaptability. Blue symbolizes the will of the overall public of Armenia to live underneath the peaceful skies. Orange symbolizes the creative capacity and driving forward nature of the overall public of Armenia. For the special events, the Flag Company Inc invented beautiful decals for the University history support.
