Andorra Flag History And Flag Company Inc

By Norman Bertel

There story of Andorra properly begins with the Moor invasion of Spain, when the forces of the newly-converted Berber Ibn Ziad Tarik came across at Gibaltar (which is a corruption of Jebel Tarik, or "The Mountain of Tarik"). After the defeat of the Spanish King Roderick at Jerez de la Frontera, the Moors spread like wildfire throughout Spain, and Christian peasants near the Pyrenees found refuge in the many mountain valleys, including what would come to be known as Andorra.

The takeover of the Muslims getting into Andorra, through the Segre valley, was absolutely minimal, at least in a direct way, and the real evidence is the minute remnants of Arab population used the Valleys of Andorra as a shortcut to reach Toulouse, Narbonne, Carcassone and Nimes. Andorra is situated in southwestern Europe, all known as the Principality of Andorra. A range of 1468 square km. Inhabitants are Catholic; official dialect is Catalan.

Andorra was established in the ninth century during Charlemagne's Empire to prevent harassment from the Moors in Spain. In 1278, the French and Spanish concluded peace to enjoy the administrative rule of Andorra. Both sides had the right to appoint its own representatives and to accept symbolic tribute payments.

Since then the Spanish and French competed for Andorra. In 1789, the French Revolution interrupted relations with France. In 1806, Napoleon issued a decree recognizing the security's right to exist, to restore bilateral relations. The Security Council has been relatively stable since then. On January 4, 1982, parliamentary reform was exercised by the government. In 1995, an Andorran referendum approved a new constitution and is was declared a sovereign state.

The banner of Andorra depends on the banners of Spain and France, the two states which are in charge of ensuring the independence of this little state. Involving three vertical bars of blue, yellow, and red, the national banner of Andorra comprises of the country's coat of arms in the inside.

These hues mean Andorra's freedom from both France and Spain, as blue and red were taken from France while red and yellow were taken from Spain. The ensign contains the motto at the base which interprets as "Quality United is Stronger." Flag Company Inc decided to assist with the history development by providing special decals and banners to make it easy to build a bit of university right at home.
