Why You Should Keep And Eat AllNatural Pastured Pork

By Donna Olson

Benefits of eating beef from animals that are grass-fed are undeniable. From fatty acids composition to nutrient contents to ethics of treating different animals with no cruelty, meat derived from free-range and grass-fed cows can be compared to any other. These benefits apply to consumable products that are obtained from animals that were raised in a natural habitat. However, pigs are a little bit complicated considering that apart from eating grass, they are omnivorous. Below are significant benefits of keeping and eating allnatural pastured pork.

Free range or pastured pigs produce quality and tasty pork when compared to pigs that are brought up in fenced and closed up sections. However, pigs that are reared in factory farms are mismanaged and exposed to the unhealthy environment which displays a devastating picture that could deter people from eating them. There are many benefits of eating free-range pigs when compared to other pigs as outlined down here.

Pig products are full of healthy fats unlike fats obtained from other animals. Their fats nutrient content is similar to the fats produced from avocados and olive oil which are classified as healthy fats. Moreover, pigs raised in free-range access enough sunlight which furnishes them with vitamin D essential for animal growth and accumulation of micronutrients.

Farmers that sell pigs to factories have embarked on using antibiotics to boost the feeding habit of their animals and enhance their growth. Additionally, when pigs fall sick, they are treated with antibiotics whereby consuming such pork leads to the body developing defense mechanism against certain drugs which could expose you to dangerous bacterial infections. Pastured pigs are hardly treated due to their healthy eating and living environment.

Taking care of pigs is not a simple task. They are dirty and hygienic measures of high standards need to be taken. The droppings smell awful and have to be collected by a few individuals under your payroll. Farmers who keep free-range pigs have no expenses for collecting the droppings and experience no bad smell since the pigs drop their thing randomly in the farm improving the fertility levels of the soil.

Pigs are known for their dirt endeavors a situation which could worsen if their caretakers are not hygienic conscious. By confining the animals to a secluded area, they are denied a chance to exercise, natural diet, and clean air. Moreover, they get raised in crowded conditions which expose them to diseases hence requiring treatment now and then.

Most of our animal breeds have become extinct from the idea of improving production. People have stopped rearing heritage pigs and started keeping the hybrid ones so that they can breed faster. However, pastured pigs are usually indigenous breeds which are not prone to diseases and pork derived from them is sweeter than you can experience from other pigs.

The decision to keep free-range pigs will depend on the piece of land that a farmer has. Although some people may not be privileged enough to own big lands, they can still keep a few pigs that can feed on the available land. Remember that products derived from free-range animals remain to be the sweetest and healthiest.
