But for someone from the military, there are certain situations that can be very compromising and sometimes eating is not an option. Which is why there are entities who try to create means to give a solution for this. Ensuring that the troops who are protecting the nation are well fed so that they can do their job well.

A previous war was the reason for the breakthrough of what is known as MRE. These are rations specifically for the military personnel and those who belong in the special task force. Before it was known only as rations but now, they have thought of new ways to improve it and lengthen the shelf life. And today it is called as MRE or Halal Meals Ready To Eat.

If you are a company who is trying to make a business out of it, you need to know that there are certain rules you need to follow. First, you need to meet the requirements of the nutritional content. It is essential in making sure that all of the people who would eat the packed meal would get the necessary nutrients.

Every pack contains different foods. It is designed to provide a full course meal to anyone. There are others that only has the main course but usually, the others have side dishes and even desserts. You would be surprised at what the contents could be. It might not be as tasty as home cooked meals but you can still guarantee that it is fresh and safe.

There is a specific count for the calorie content in every pack. And it should be exactly 1300 calories per pack. The percentage is also measured for the other nutrients. It should strictly contain 55 percent carbs, 35 percent for the fat content and 15 percent for proteins. As for the temperature that it must be stored with to assure freshness, there is a range for that. But you do not have to worry too much.

It would last up to 6 months if it is not stowed away in a proper manner. But if it is stored properly, the life span of the entire meal could reach 3 years before it would go bad. There are no preservatives use or chemicals that was put into the mixture. There is only the good way of packaging it.

During the entire process, the goal is to get rid of any traces of oxygen or moisture. This is because it is the main reason why a food rots away. Since there are different recipes, there are also different ways in ensuring they do not spoil and last for the designated length of time.

The usual method is by using the vacuum seal process to absorb the air inside. For fruits, there would be a need to employ thermal processing to rid them of any contents that could be the reason for it to go bad immediately. There are also oxygen scavengers put inside every pack to ensure that the remaining air would be rid of.

Since it is hugely utilized in compromising and even dangerous situations, there is a need for it to be durable. This way, no matter what type of transportation it is subjected to, it would not get blown to pieces or get torn easily. Even if you drop it from a plane without a parachute, the packaging would still survive.
