Creating Professional Looking Personal Wedding Websites

By Essie Osborn

Getting married is an exciting time for the bride, the groom and all the extended family. There's a lot to do, and every year it seems like something new is added to the list. Sometimes it's just an added problem or thing to do, but other times it can be a fabulous and wonderful addition, like personal wedding websites.

There are lots of opportunities to personalize such a site, beginning with a personalized home page. In doing so, a bride and groom give their guests a little glimpse into what's to be expected on the wedding day. A good way to begin is by thanking them for stopping by and visiting.

This is a great way to give guests another place to find all the information regarding the event. So, provide the location, time and date of both the ceremony and reception. Give them a taste of what's in store with regards to the menu and what attire might be best suited to the event. In doing so, they can plan their wardrobe ahead of time, for a better outcome. Provide a glimpse of the genre of music, too.

Make it a fairytale or share the love story of how the happy couple met. Don't stop there! Share the special moments that led to the engagement, and don't be shy to post some photos. It's a good idea to share the honeymoon location, as it will avoid the bride and groom from having to answer this question hundreds of times, while including them in the plans.

No one needs to be a webmaster, but create it logically and in an organized fashion. Give details about the when, where and what to wear. This will serve to prepare guests in advance so they fit in when they arrive. Also, opt for a simple and good sized font to make for easy reading. Get help from a friend to proofread the text prior to publishing.

For example, the bride and groom may divulge important information like the cocktail hour begins at six, and dinner will only be served at seven. In such cases, parents of children will act accordingly and bring their children later. Basically, it's a great way to share some valuable details about the event.

Invitations can disappear in mountains of paperwork, leaving guests scrambling for information, so a wedding website is perfect. It will provide all the information they need right at their fingertips, whenever they need it. Ensure the venue address and directions are included so that they may refer to it as they may require.

This is also the ideal place to give guests contact information. Again, invitations can get lost, so they will be able to write, email, or call the happy couple at any time. Moreover, more information for out-of-town guests and what accommodations are nearby, and in different price ranges to suit different budgets. Nearby restaurants and other amenities can also be suggested here to give such guests a helping hand.

Provide registry information too, as well as the person responsible for it, which is probably the maid of honor. With her permission, provide her contact information so guests may contact her at any time. Oftentimes, guests aren't sure about registries, so it's a good way to give them peace of mind.
