Serve Guests Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Or Other Trendy Dishes At Your Next Party

By Paul Murphy

Having a nice drink after a long day can be refreshing when it comes time to relax. Although some people may like to indulge in spirits, there are some classic nonalcoholic favorites that may also fall into that category. Sometimes, people like to have that special beverage when they want to wind down for the day. For those who prefer sweet drinks, salted caramel hot chocolate may be the answer.

This is not to be confused with something that tastes sugary or leaves a slight aftertaste. Rich cocoa powder and real buttery caramel blend together to make a slightly denser version of this childhood favorite. The great news is there are some fantastic recipes that are made for discriminating tastes. No more waiting in long lines at the coffee shop or trendy restaurant.

The idea serving display will have a dozen or so small mugs or cups next to a tray of slightly sweet baked goods. Hard cookies with a mild flavor, like Danish butter, are the best choices since they will not overpower the taste of the chocolate. Guests may find this to be a nice dessert alternative.

For those who are watching their waistline, it may be possible to use reduced fat milk when making this recipe or prepared mix at home. Whole milk, with the buttery caramel, gives this drink a robust texture but a compromise may be worth trying out. However, using artificial sweeteners or plant based milk products may throw the flavor off balance.

While kids may like the extra sweetness, most adults go for the smooth texture right next to the flavor combination. Since salted caramel is already rich with butter flavor, there is no need for more sugar or milk products. When caramel sauce is used with the drinks prepared at the coffee shop, most fans enjoy licking the bottom of the cup to get the last hint of that thick, buttery goodness.

Cauliflower is another vegetable that is becoming popular. It is used to make rice dishes, used in pizza dough, and is a vegetarian alternative to buffalo wings. The latter recipe calls for florets that have been lightly fried or oven roasted before covering in buffalo sauce. Most who have tried this say the slightly bitter texture is nowhere to be found and is great for everyday snacking.

Another idea would be to make a couple of quarts and pour inside a large portable thermostat for long trips or small gatherings of close friends. This drinks can also bring good feelings when served before office meetings or pot luck lunches. Those who are trying this out for the first time are likely to be impressed with the strong flavor profile and silky texture.

Although some kids may like this drink, grownups should have something special for themselves. Sometimes kids like the sweetness of milk chocolate, which gives this drink a different profile. While a shot of rum or vodka may be the ideal chaser for those especially tense days, many who have tried this say the natural flavors are more than enough for a nice mental escape from reality.
