Federal Contractors Must Complete WOSB Registration To Qualify For Set Aside Contracts

By Celeste Osborne

Women-Owned Small Business or WOSB Registration can help small businesses gain access to coveted federal set aside contract opportunities. This contracting program is available to any small business that is at least 51% owned by one or more women. For qualifying businesses, this program offers exclusive access to federal contracts that are only offered to registered vendors.

The WOSB program has produced incredible revenue for qualifying small businesses - totaling nearly $20 billion over more than 260,000 contracts awarded to these businesses during the 2013 fiscal year. This is thanks in part to FAR regulations requiring federal purchasing officers to set aside at least 5% of all contracting award dollars exclusively for women owned businesses.

Registration is mandatory in order to bid on WOSB contracts and the registration can be very complicated depending upon the company's specific circumstances. In addition to the registration form itself, several pages of supporting documents are required as evidence of the business's eligibility. Since incorrect or incomplete documentation can result in either delayed completion of the registration or outright denial, it is recommended that businesses enlist professional assistance in preparing and filing their WOSB registration.

US Federal Contractor Registration has years of experience helping thousands of businesses complete their WOSB registration, as well as their SAM registration and other necessary paperwork to bid on federal contracts.

To find out more about WOSB registration, business owners may call US Federal Contractor Registration's Contractor Hotline at (877) 252-2700 Ext 1. During the call, a live Acquisition Specialist can advise the firm of other relevant set aside programs and contracting opportunities in their field.

US Federal Contractor Registration has helped over 65,000 businesses complete their System for Award Management registration. Their clients include businesses such as McGraw Hill, HP, Wells Fargo, Xerox, GoodWill, Dixie, UPS, Heinz, Sheraton Hotels, Marriott, Westin, Interstate Oil, CITI, and Coldwell Banker; academic institutions and colleges like NYC, Northwestern, Oxford, Southwestern, and Mercer; and numerous federal agencies like US Army, US Navy, Veteran Affairs and United States Department of Agriculture.
