Steps In Making Cinnamon Flavored Toothpicks

By Roseann Hudson

Cinnamon is used as a spice due to its healing properties. It is also used because it has a nice fragrance. Cinnamon flavored toothpicks have been used for many years as the demand for them has been growing over the years. They are used to freshen the breath, as a smoking sensation and also removes food particles from teeth. To make a cinnamon toothpick, just a few ingredients are required, and it only takes a night to complete the process.

The cinnamon is usually in liquid form. A small amount is poured into the airtight container that you have. The lid should be the right size so that no air goes in or out. The jar should be slightly taller than the sticks so that they stand properly inside and allow for the lid to fit nicely.

The next step is to put the number of wooden sticks that you want to make toothpicks from. They should be the height of the container so that it can be closed easily. So as to maximize the container, ensure that they completely fill all the spaces that are available. Five hundred would be a good number for a medium sized container.

The next step will be to cover the container with a lid. Make sure there is no air getting in or out. If this happens, then the flavor could be diluted, and the process could backfire. The container should be placed in a place where it will not be shaken or toppled over. Do not do any heating to as the process should take place at its own natural pace without any disturbance.

You should let the jar remain that way overnight. This is to allow enough time for the sticks to absorb as much flavor as possible. Even though the cinnamon is only a small amount, you will find that it will work effectively because of its strong scent and the air tight container. In the morning, you will find that the stick will be wet from the cinnamon, and they will have acquired this flavor.

After twelve hours, you may remove the sticks from the container. You should place them on the material that does not absorb moisture preferably an aluminum foil. Once they are all arranged on the foil, you should place them outside when there is sunshine to allow them adequate time to dry up.

You cannot know if they are dry by just looking at them, you will have to feel with your hands. When you are sure that they are completely dry, it means that they are ready to use. They are completely safe and healthy too. Handle them in a clean environment and with clean hands.

The last step is to pack them. Do this in an air tight container so that they do not lose the flavor with time. If they are for home use, keep them in a tight container. Those for sale should be sealed properly too. If there is any cinnamon that remained in the container, tightly close it in and leave it for use next time.
