Knowing More About Ghostwriting Services For Novels And Memoirs

By Jordan Schmidt

Ever since books became more and more popular, the career of ghostwriters flourished. Ghostwriting services for novels and memoirs have been provided to many authors for many years already in order to make their lives easier and to make the publishing process faster. Now if one is interested in entering this kind of career, here is some very useful information about the job.

Now before anything else it is very important to first know exactly what these people do. Now in a nutshell, ghostwriters are hired writers that would not be heard and seen would be the ones to handle the writing jobs of authors. This is done so that the authors will not spend too much time on the details and can shorten the work time.

Of course the first task that one of these writers would be doing would obviously be editing. One who edits the work of an author is known as a ghost writer because although he is the one who creates the final draft, his name is not given credit. Usually the authors would provide the first draft while his team of writers would be editing and proofreading the draft.

Aside from doing the edits, they may also be paid to actually do most of the work in the novel. When one would say most of the work, he actually means that the ghostwriter will actually write the entire novel. The flow, outline, and story plot will just come from the author and the ghostwriter has to turn everything into words and make it attractive to the readers.

Now when it comes to memoirs on the other hand, a typical ghostwriter will definitely have more work that what a ghostwriter of a novel has. Not only are writers of memoirs tasked to edit and proofread, but they are also tasked to do some research as well. They will be working directly with the author and the author will be giving them the commands.

Now a memoir is research intensive because memoirs are pretty much like autobiographies that would be written from a first person point of view. In this case, the writer has to think and act like the person who is living in the text. It is because of this that ghostwriters have to do heavy research on the person that they are writing about.

Also just like in a novel, the ghostwriters will be the ones to clean up the entire content. As stated above, the author will most likely provide the draft or sometimes just the outline and the writing team will work from there. So as one can see, writing a memoir is definitely more difficult and more time consuming than writing a novel.

Now most people would be asking their selves right now about how ghostwriters are compensated. Well, they will actually be given a standard fee and will also be given some commissions based on the book sales. Of course since they are ghostwriters, their names will not be credited and they will most likely not get any recognition.
