Your Gluten-Free Diet Plan Does Not Have To Be Dull Or Boring

By Mary And Vlady

Many people suffer today from celiac disease which means they have sensitivity to gluten. However, it's possible to live a healthy and comfortable life, enjoy many good foods, lose weight, and have some fun. You'll need to make some changes and this includes the way that you cook, and here are some tips to make your gluten-free diet easier to handle.

Pie crusts - There is no reason that you cannot enjoy a good pie, even when you are the one making the crust. Make sure and go easy on the water. Just a little bit too much can make your crust hard. In fact, it may be so hard that you won't want to eat it. Remember that GF or gluten-free crusts may form little cracks or tears. However, you can often smooth them over with your fingers.

Store bread - If you want GF bread you need to only look as far as your local grocery store. You'll find some very good bread products just sitting on the shelf. Yet, these loaves will not be like the soft bread you used to make sandwiches with. However, if you leave your bread in the freezer and only remove what you need, it may turn out fine. Also, try toasting to avoid tearing or crumbling.

Home baked bread - To get bread that fills all your needs, you may need to do it yourself. It is not as hard as you may think if you use the right materials like GF flour and xanthum gum. This gum can make all the difference in the world when it comes to making breads. Also, you may make some mistakes in the beginning, but don't throw them away. They might make good bird stuffing material or filler for your meatloaf.

Lactose - Did you know that many people with celiac disease are also lactose intolerant? This can be very frustrating because you might be following a good GF diet and still feeling poorly. If you suspect lactose intolerance, try using plain yogurt when you need buttermilk. Of course, there are also some very good lactose free milk products on the market.

Enjoy fresh produce - Take a look at the produce section of your grocers or visit a local produce stand. All of those colorful and beautiful selections are on the menu and many of them are naturally low in calories, which makes weight management easier. How about making a nice garden salad tonight with some homemade dressing? In fact, you may want to enjoy salads more frequently.

Cook with a friend - Have you ever noticed how frustrating it can be when you fail in the kitchen? Try to involve someone else in your GF cooking efforts. This will serve two purposes. One, you will have someone that can offer helpful advice, because two minds are better than one. Two, most things in life are enhanced when you share the experience.

Herbalife - If you want something that is virtually allergy free, try Herbalife Formula 1. It is a great tasting nutritional shake that does not contain gluten, dairy products, or even soy. This will keep you on a GF lifestyle and help you drop some of the extra pounds in the process.
