Tips For Becoming A Powerful Natural Health Copywriter

By Raymond Robinson

Writing copy for business websites and blogs can be a good way to earn an income from the convenience of your bedroom or kitchen table. If you're already writing professionally and want to expand your client base, you should consider marketing yourself as a natural health copywriter. Since you are already used to writing, your next step in interesting this segment of the marketplace is to learn what motivates its believers.

First you have to figure out who these consumers are. You may have to dig into the demographics to do the research. It could be that there are multiple profiles who are interested in these products for a variety of different reasons.

You should check out blogs where users are describing the health regimens they follow and what benefits they believe they get from those regimens. If you have a client in this field, it's possible that some research has already been done in the form of surveys. If your client is willing to share the information, you will be ahead of the game.

The best copy is conversational. You need to write as though you were talking with a friend. The language you use should be simple and straightforward. You never want to sound as though you are preaching to a congregation. It is perfectly acceptable, when writing copy, to forego a lot of the English sentence structure you learned in high school. You can't abandon good grammar, but you can use it informally to create your own voice.

Getting into the minds of your target audience is important. You've got to understand what they are concerned about and what their most pressing health problems are. This way you can effectively address the solution. Of course the solution will be the product you are marketing. Your job is to tell your audience why they need the product and have to act now.

Do not underestimate the value of a striking headline. You need to spend a lot of time polishing the headlines you end up with, experimenting with different words and phrases. The headline will determine whether your audience reads the text or moves on to a competitor. Even if you're advertising an amazing product, it won't be recognized unless the words you use in your headlines stops the reader and compels him to continue reading.

After the headline, the first sentence is next in copy writing importance. You have already pulled the reader in with the headline, you don't want to lose him with a long winded, convoluted introduction. Keep it simple and give the reader solid information. This sentence needs to tell the reader that you're going to solve his problems. The following sentences have to tell him how you are going to do that.

Don't make outrageous claims you can't back up. When you are writing about things like supplements, the reader is going to be looking for legitimate proof of the benefits. Testimonials are fine, but not sufficient to compel the consumer to buy. Scientific studies and other evidence, presented in a realistic manner, can tip the scales enough to convince your reader to purchase.
