Add An Indian Influence With Buffalo Jerky

While fruits and vegetables are good options that are often loaded with fiber and low on calories, change is a good thing too. More people are finding that buffalo jerky is a nice alternative to beef and pork products.

Besides buffalo, there are many flavors of jerky, including those made from plants or grains that taste like meat. If one likes the taste of the traditional beef and pork recipes, they may enjoy the poultry or seafood versions better. The modern jerky flavors may use ingredients like honey or spicy jalapeno. Most made from natural ingredients also have little to no preservatives or sodium.

Planning a light but unique menu for guests may want to look to Indian or Mediterranean cuisine. Hummus is growing in popularity and besides being easy to make, it is very healthy. There are also other dips that are fun but light in calories. Pita chips are versatile when it comes to dips and toppings. Snacks that are rich in fiber can be filling, so there is less guilt.

Some people like to have an ice cream social but one can eliminate some of the guilt by substituting frozen greek yogurt. Its thick consistency makes it a believable option and many recipes are relatively low in sugar. To cut calories further, one suggestion would be to buy a large carton in plain and freeze. About one hour prior to social, let thaw and stir slightly for an even texture.

Most people would be amazed at how easy these new low calorie snacks are to prepare. Besides being inexpensive, these allow anyone to eat healthy without a lot of fuss. This holds true for chips, as most vegetables can be sliced and baked in an oven until crisp. The amount of oil used is just a small fraction of what some restaurant use to deep fry potatoes and other vegetables.

These fun foods are mostly safe for people looking to lose weight. Not only are they mostly low in calories and have natural fiber to curb the appetite naturally but the sodium contents are low. This is essential in warding off diseases like high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol levels. If a store does not carry these items, they can be made at home with little prep time involved.

Finally, many of the healthier food choices that are coming out are not only portable but easy to store. Jerky meats are edible as long as they remain in room temperature. Most brands are individually packaged, which is ideal when on the run.

Products like these make social gatherings more fun, as no one should feel guilty about having more than one serving. Besides, no one is expected to have three square meals that have been perfectly proportioned every day. Having a healthy substitute around can help people feel good and maintain their body.
