Long Island SEO Do's And Don'ts For Constructing Resumes

By Rob Sutter

The goal of writing a resume is to draw attention of your strengths. In order to do so, you'll have to draw attention to everything from your education to the jobs you've held in the past. Did you know, though, that it's entirely possible to construct a digital resume with a Long Island SEO focus in place? For those that would like to learn more about this particular endeavor, here are a few do's & don'ts that you should keep in mind.

DO consider which keywords will be most valuable. Anyone that has ever written a digital resume will tell you that some keywords matter more than others. The best ones, as you might have imagined, reflect your skills and the industry you're part of. You'll also want to focus on keywords that employers are likely to Google. Keywords matter, but it's important to focus on the best ones.

DON'T downplay the headline. The headline of your resume goes a long way, not only in terms of drawing in potential employers but ranking as well. To write the perfect headline, include keywords that are relevant to your skills and industry of choice. In addition, keep it at a reasonable length. According to companies such as fishbat, the snappier your headline is, the more likely it is that it will help you in the business world.

DO clearly list where you are. Another SEO element, as it relates to resume construction, is where you live. Not only will employers want to know where prospects are located, but you'll want to make sure that potential job opportunities are relatively close. You should make it clear where you are, abbreviated forms included. By using different variations of your location, you stand to gain more SEO juice.

DON'T keep your resume the way it is. To be more specific, as you continue to progress in your workplace, it's in your best interest to change your resume accordingly. The fact that this will keep it more accurate is a given. However, much like any piece of digital content, regular updates will ensure that search engines pick up on it. For resume writers, ignoring your content for too long is nothing short of an oversight.
