Mung Bean Recipes And Their Various Benefits

Sometimes, you might want to try something new in the kitchen. This can be incorporating a vegetable or meat you rarely use, or even cutting some things from your diet. One very healthy way to do this is by trying a mung bean recipes. These beans are normally pale yellow, green, or black in color and are also referred to as green grams. They can be bought when whole, split and peeled, or even ground.

When you buy dried produce, especially in seed form, from the farmers market, or the local convenience store, you normally need to soak it in water for a few hours, so that it does not take too long to cook. You can also choose to use a pressure cooker. However, if you are not careful this might turn your food into pulp. With green grams, you can leave them in water for about two hours and they will be ready to cook.

Once you start using these legumes, you will discover the various ways you can prepare them. This can be by putting them in a vegetable stew, in a curry, as part of your desert, or even in a soup. Their versatility is one thing that makes them very attractive to many cooks. They can also be cooked on their own, and eaten with bread or rice.

When you decide to cook them in a stew, you will need onions, tomatoes, garlic, coriander and spices. After caramelizing the onions and the tomatoes, you will add the coriander and spices, and then let it cook for a while, until the tomatoes form a thick puree. You will then pour in the green grams and the crushed garlic. If you like your food with soup, add some water. If you want to try something different, add coconut milk to the mixture and let it simmer. When using coconut milk, you should avoid using tomatoes.

These days, most people are looking for other ways to add protein to their meals, while eliminating meat. This is mainly because meat, especially red meat, has been singled out as being high in cholesterol. The various chemicals in most processed foods have also been blamed for the rise in cancer cases. Eating plant produce like mug beans, gives you a good serving of proteins to provide your body with energy throughout the day. They also have inhibitors, which slow down the production of cancerous cells.

Most lentils and legumes have a bad name, due to giving people gas, and leaving you feeling bloated. With mung beans, however, this is not to be of concern. These high fiber foods are good for digestion and combat constipation, while also reducing the bad cholesterol in your body.

People who suffer for liver problems and heart problems are also encouraged to start including these beans, in their meal plans. They are good for maintaining a good liver and a strong heart, with chemical substances like lecithin, which normalize liver functions.

When looking for something to help you detox, this might just be your solution. These plants help to expel toxins from the body, which can be very effective, when trying to cure the symptoms of a hangover. They also have some compounds which enhance the production of collagen in the body, keeping the skin elastic for longer.
