How To Get Past Raw Emotions

By Jose Roberts

It is not always that you want to express your emotions so that they are raw. You can't walk around being completely open all the time. You have to be in the right place to be vulnerable, with the right people. However, it is important to have raw emotions and to speak from the heart. This is not only going to help you, but it will help others as well.

Bottling things up and keeping your emotions hidden away is not healthy. You may even suffer in a physical way because often it leads to psychosomatic symptoms. People show these emotions when they become vulnerable and tell people more about their life. It helps other people to become inspired and look at their own life from another perspective.

It can have something to do with to do with childhood distress or trauma which one has not dealt with. A child from a dysfunctional home will not have been taught how to cope on their own. They will still be facing terrible feelings based on what they have been through. It can relate to anxiety, with a lot of fear and panic. It especially happens when they are triggered.

Other things on a temporary nature can lead to these emotions brewing up. The individual often thinks that it is just temporary and they will get over it. However, it is not as simple as this. When you are facing a challenge in your life, you need to deal with it at the present time, otherwise you are going to be presented with other problems as well.

Many people allow things like anger, jealousy and rage to take over their lives. It is not something that they want in their lives. Often, they will start the day on a relaxed note. However, this always seems to go haywire when something small happens. It can be a little road rage and your emotions will get out of control. You will already have started the day in a bad way.

However, one will identify what the technique is which best helps you here. For example, there are some people who say that meditation or mindfulness helps them when they begin to get anxious or when they panic. There are apps on your phone which will guide you through this time when you become fearful.

Learning specific breathing exercises are a bit like meditation as well. It helps you to keep you in the present moment. You will only focus on your breathing and nothing else. People who react quickly will benefit from this. There are also techniques to help them cope in these instances. It can especially be helpful for borderline patients who tend to react. DBT therapy can be helpful for this.

A person should also try and develop a certain amount of empathy which obviously takes time, but it can be useful for the parson who has anger issues. This will also improve relationships. They will begin to ask themselves more about their loved one and how they are struggling as well.
