By Ruth Scott

If you are thinking about using digital printing for your custom labels, then it means you want a high quality and cost efficient solution. However, you also need to think about the environments benefits. The use of digital printing that is eco friendly has made a significant change in the publishing industry. If you chose to go digital with the product labels, you should note that you are going green as the two go hand-in-hand.

When you use the digitalized printing methods, you are reducing and preventing waste. This is because this is a system which uses less paper compared to the traditional print. On the other hand, the old publishing method has setups which are long and also lots of waste. To avoid wasting, you should think about using the digitalized method.

For a long time, the paper used on print could not be recycled. This is because the old methods of publishing are no clear, and if it is done on a used paper, then it is possible that the outcome will not be good. With digital publishing, one can use the recycled papers and still have a beautiful result; this saves further on waste.

The process utilized in the old publishing method was tiring. To begin with, a plate has to be made and copied printed and cut down so that the client can get a look at the final product. This was costly and a waste of time especially if the customer will not like the stencil. With the modern method, the client can receive prove sent to them electronically without having to spend time and money making a real print.

Some jobs might require press proof so that the material, color, or any special finish could be proved. This is paramount for those who want to ensure the printing has met the design expectations. Luckily with the digital publishing method, it is easy to produce a single copy of the final product without one having to deal with excess waste, thus making this approach less wasteful compared to a flexographic process.

The old method of publishing used many toxic chemicals to be able to produce printed piece whether working on a flexographic or offset. Thus, this is the reason the process took place in a dark room especially when plates were being manufactured. These plates could be either polyester or rubber. Other than that, one would need to use solvents to remove ink from the roller. The use of high toxic products is more on the tradition method of publishing compared to the digitalized publishing method.

Other than causing harm to the environment, the tradition method is harmful to peoples health. This is because of the many toxic products used, which could cause harm if one does not wear protective garments. Rather than using a dangerous method, it is best of one opts for the modern method, which is safe.

Digital printing has positive impacts on the environment since it eliminates most of the chemical and physical wastes found in the old method of printing. At the same time, it is reliable as it produced high-quality equipment.
