Can Tuscan Olive Oil Reduce Kidney Disease?

By Katie Arden

The main function of kidneys, in the human body, is to flush out any trace of waste from the blood stream. The waste in question is typically found when nutrients are broken down from the food that we consume. As you can imagine, then, kidneys must not only be presented but maintained with strong diets set in place. If you are curious as to what said diets entail, you may want to focus on those which entail the presence of Tuscan olive oil.

As Olive Oil Times reported, kidney disease may be reduced in part to the Mediterranean diet. It's not hard to see why this hypothesis came into being, especially when you see how such a diet has been looked at as a positive influence towards heart-healthiness as the like. Kidney health is another story, though. Nonetheless, Columbia University Medical Center professional Dr. Minesh Khatri decided to focus on this matter with a study.

The study itself followed a series of 900 participants, each of them tracked for nine years in relation to the Mediterranean diet. Their results were tallied with a points system, which is unique for a case like this. In any event, it was originally found that conditions closely related to the Mediterranean diet resulted in a 50 decrease of kidney disease development. What is the reason for this, though, you may wonder?

It's easy to see that the Mediterranean diet, loaded with products like Tuscan olive oil, has a positive influence on one's kidneys. According to companies like Unaprol, it's easy to see that certain foods can aid in kidney health, with the aforementioned oil being just one example. In fact, some of the most recommended foods for kidney disease patients include apples, blueberries, and cabbage. Suffice it to say, many of them are linked to a maintained Mediterranean diet.

If you are someone who is just starting to get into the Mediterranean diet, it's important to understand that it will take some time to become truly effective. After all, a new regimen takes some getting used to, regardless of how many beneficial products it boasts. However, it's easy to see that this diet has long-term benefits. Many of them can be attributed to the idea of kidney health and the likelihood of it being kept high over time.
