Kosher Meals Prove To Be Effective In Restoring Health

By Dorothy Fisher

Health and fitness has taken off so much in the last few years that billions are spent every year for research and product development. Everyone wants to know how they can improve their health levels, boost their metabolism and lower their cholesterol levels, all on a satisfying meal plan and without sacrificing taste. Luckily for you, kosher meals can accomplish all of that while teaching you a thing or two about the strict guidelines that the Jewish population lives by.

The actual term of this lifestyle lays out the rules and regulations by which the Jewish people must live by in terms of food. There are sections that contain the food that is permitted, and sections that detail which foods are forbidden for consumption. Besides these guidelines, there are strict measures that must be taken to ensure that all food is prepared in the correct way, otherwise even permitted food can become unlawful.

The holy book of Jewish religion only allows animals who eat from the plants on the ground and have definitive hooves. Due to these characteristics, rabbits, pigs, camels and the hyrax are forbidden for consumption according to the guidelines. Birds of prey are also forbidden, and water birds that consume fish are forbidden for consumption.

Any fish species that live in a body of water and have both scales and fins are allowed to be eaten. There are a couple of locust species which are also allowed, and also, the beetle, and grasshoppers. All other flying or creeping insects are forbidden for the Jewish people.

In order to maintain the sanctity of this practice, preparation techniques have been developed to ensure the meat is completely free of blood and fit for consumption. One of these methods involve the meat being soaked in water for about thirty minutes, and this will open the pores of the meat and allow for the blood's escape. When this is complete, the meat is put on top of a board and covered with a thick layer of salt, which absorbs the salt and thereby making the food fit for consumption.

There are many scriptures that dictate laws about the lawfulness of food that contradict each other, but all the scriptures are unanimous in announcing that milk derived from an animal which is considered to be lawful, is also permitted for consumption. Exemptions are made for that milk which is derived from an animal which is discovered to have been suffering from a disease prior to slaughtering, as this is against the laws of the holy book. However, some concessions have been known to be made for these situations.

Gelatin is another topic that is rife with opposing views, as some scholars state that because it is of questionable animal origin, it is considered unlawful. Others state that because the structure of the animal product has been chemically altered into something that no longer resembles its origin, it is lawful for consumption. Whatever the case may be, there are many other substitutes for the gelatin that can be used as a binding agent.

Discover the true value of these delicious meals when you incorporate it into your life. Get your lifestyle back on track now.
